Areas of Expertise
Performance and Recording
My main position is Principal Flute with the Manchester Camerata, with whom I have been a member since 2008. I have also freelanced as an orchestral musician for 23 years, and recorded and broadcast multiple performances for CD, radio and television. I also now do remote sessions - have a look at the video on the left!
Music Therapy
I specialise in dementia, older adult mental health and adult learning disability. I am one of a team of lead music therapists at Manchester Camerata's Music in Mind dementia programme, held at Gorton Monastery and in care settings across North Manchester.
I am Co-Director of String of Hearts CIC, based in Trafford, West Manchester. We connect older adults in our community through music making, to help reduce isolation and improve wellbeing in later life, with many of our participants referred to us through social prescription.
I also run music therapy sessions at L'Arche, a residential home in South Manchester for adults with learning disabilities, making as much fun and interactive music mayhem as we possibly can!
Training Workshops
I offer training workshops for anyone interested in learning more about music and dementia, mental health and learning disability. This can be tailored to suit music students, arts practitioners working in the community, carers or family members, link workers and health professionals and anyone wishing to find ways to connect more deeply to the people we care for.
